The last celebration of family centenarians took place in the Kirov department of the registry office of the city of Kazan last year
In 2019, the registry office in a festive atmosphere congratulated 251 couples who celebrated the anniversary. Of this number, 201 couples crossed the half-century mark and celebrated a golden wedding, 49 families - diamond anniversaries lived together for 60 years and one family celebrated 70 years since the wedding - the crown anniversary in the past year.
The tradition of honoring couples who have been married for 50, 60 and 70 years originated in Kazan in 2000 and continues to the present. Every month, in all city departments of the registry office, employees hold celebrations for those Kazan citizens who, more than half a century ago, crossed the threshold of the registry office and tied their fortunes. Such «newlyweds» are given a cash gift and a congratulatory address of the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Raisovich Metshin.
