International Day of Families (this is the correct official name of the holiday) is celebrated annually on May 15 since 1994. Proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in a resolution on the International Year of the Family (Resolution No. A / REC / 47/237 of September 20, 1993). The establishment of this day aims to draw the attention of the public countries to the many problems of the family.

Many states, in addition to the International Family Day, also celebrate a regional holiday. Thus, the All-Russian Day of Family, Love and Loyalty is celebrated annually on July 8. It is symbolic that it was first celebrated in 2008, which was declared the year of the family.
